IG Sort - Privacy Policy

IG Sort does not collect, transmit, or share any of your data. Everything stays in your browser.

1. What This Extension Does

IG Sort is a Chrome extension that lets you sort Instagram profile posts by likes, comments, or views. It works by intercepting Instagram API responses as they travel between Instagram's servers and your browser, then storing the relevant metrics locally so you can sort and filter them.

2. Data Accessed

When you browse Instagram with IG Sort installed, the extension passively intercepts API responses that your browser already receives. This includes:

Post metrics (likes, comments, views)
Engagement counts
Public usernames and post identifiers

The extension does not actively request or scrape any data beyond what Instagram already sends to your browser during normal use.

3. How Data Is Stored

All intercepted data is stored exclusively in chrome.storage.local -- the browser's built-in local storage API for extensions. Specifically:

Data never leaves your device
Only the IG Sort extension can access this storage
Stored entries have a time-to-live (TTL) expiration and are automatically cleaned up after a set period
No cloud storage, no remote servers, no third-party services

4. What We Do Not Collect

IG Sort does not:

Use analytics or telemetry services
Track your browsing behaviour
Transmit any data to external servers (including our own)
Use cookies or tracking pixels
Sell, share, or rent any information
Access Instagram login credentials or passwords

5. How to Clear Your Data

You can remove all data stored by IG Sort at any time:

Uninstall the extension: Removing IG Sort from Chrome deletes all associated local storage automatically
Clear extension data: Go to Chrome Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > View permissions and data stored across sites, search for the extension, and clear its data

IG Sort requests the following Chrome permissions:

storage: To save intercepted post metrics locally
Host access to *.instagram.com: To intercept API responses from Instagram's domain
